Roma suffered humiliation at Barcelona tonight, losing 6-1 in their Champions League meeting.
Despite the absence of Andrés Iniesta and Javier Mascherano, the already qualified holders raced into top gear within the first few minutes and two goals in four minutes, from Luis Suárez then Lionel Messi, put them firmly in control.
Suarez made it 3-0 before halftime with a superb volley.
The second half brought no respite as Suárez and Messi combined to tee up Gerard Piqué for 4-0. Then Barcelona's 'Trident' combined as Neymar and Suárez provided for Messi to make it five.
Adriano came off the bench to complete the scoring, tapping home Messi's failed spotkick.
Edin Dzeko pulled one back for Roma, but was it barely a consolation for the visitors.
Roma coach Rudi Garcia stated afterwards: "The good news came before the game, the draw of Borisov. We have the destiny in our feet. It took a miracle to win tonight and it did not happen, we found a stratospheric team.
"Right now it's impossible to play against Barcelona."
