Idrissa Gueye has stated that he is intent on repaying the faith shown in him by Everton.
Gueye endured a difficult debut season in England after joining Aston Villa last year but despite his side's struggles, Everton decided to swoop for the midfielder for a fee of around £7.1million this summer, after showing sturdiness in a poor Villa side.
Following the move to Goodison Park, Gueye has delivered a number of quality performances and the Senegalese international has stated that he is currently on a mission to repay the faith the Toffees have shown.
The 27-year-old Everton's monthly magazine: "It didn't turn out well at Villa. But the one real source of motivation was that the fans would appreciate you if they felt you put effort in, worked hard and did your best.
"So that is what I tried to do. Everton saw something in my game and my qualities. Now it is all about trying to pay them back.
"I am grateful in the confidence they showed me and I want to pay that back by working hard throughout the season and give it my best as well as learning all the time.
"I'm pleased with how the season has started. It has almost been like an automatic understanding with the players."
