Gamboa excited about first days with West Brom

Cristian Gamboa is excited after his first days with West Bromwich Albion.

Gamboa has promised to deliver the goods with Albion in whatever position manager Alan Irvine picks him.

But he would prefer a 3-5-2 formation to enable him to make the sort of darting runs down the right as seen in Costa Rica's World Cup run.

"If there's one thing I can promise to the fans it is that I will run," Gamboa said.

"They will see me run a lot of times. That's the kind of player I am - I like to run, I like to give assists to the strikers and I will try to do that here.

"That's something I can promise the fans.

"If I am not picked on the right hand side it is no problem at all. The position I prefer to play is as a wing-back, like I played in the World Cup. But I played in Norway for four years as a full-back, so I can also play there. Right midfield? Not so much.

"I want to play a lot of games, I want to get a place in the squad and try to play games and be in a good position with West Brom in the Premier League this year. The aim is always something big for the club and I'd like this club to win something.

"I followed the Premier League in Norway and whenever I saw West Brom I saw a nice pitch and a nice stadium. Now it will be nice for me to see the fans."
