Gamba Osaka have suffered their first defeat of the new J-League season, falling to Kyoto Purple Sanga.

Lee Jung-soo gave the visitors the lead just prior to half-time and Diego added a second ten minutes after the re-start to hand Kyoto the ascendency.

A 77th minute goal from midfielder Shinichi Terada gave Gamba some hope but it ended up being a consolation as Kyoto jump to fifth on the table.
