Gamba Osaka held by crosstown rivals Cerezo

Gamba Osaka were held to a 1-1 draw by rivals Cerezo Osaka in the J-League yesterday.

The draw meant Gamba have opened the season with just one point from two games after Tomokazu Myojin struck first in the 65th minute before Cerezo's Adriano equalised six minutes later.

Also on Sunday in Japan, 2009 champions Kashima Antlers drew 1-1 at Kyoto Sanga, Vissel Kobe lost 2-1 at home to Sanfrecce Hiroshima and Urawa Reds defeated Tokyo 1-0.

On Saturday, Shunsuke Nakamura enjoyed a successful return to the J-League by helping Yokohama F. Marinos to a 3-0 home win over Shonan Bellmare, Albirex Niigata and Jubilo Iwata drew 1-1, Shimizu S-Pulse scored two late goals to down Montedio Yamagata 3-0, last season's Division One winners Vegalta Sendai made it two from two defeating Omiya Ardija 3-1 and Kawasaki Frontale gave up the lead twice before edging out Nagoya Grampus 3-2.
