Gamba Osaka coach Akira Nishino is delighted his side has taken another step towards the round of 16 in the Asian Champions League.
Gamba demolished Indonesian club Sriwijaya 5-0 overnight, a result that satisfied Nishino.
“I’m very satisfied with the result and the score,” said Nishino.
“We took control of the game and created many chances in the second half, but we were not able to finish well, which is something we have to work on.
“The important thing is to put pressure (on to our rivals) by producing a result, which we did and that was good.”
Gamba just needs a win in the return leg against Sriwijaya to secure a top-two spot on the Group F table and Nishino hopes that can be achieved to relieve some pressure.
“We got positive results in our first two matches, which is better than I had expected,” added Nishino.
“In our third and fourth matches against the same opponent, we had the advantage of playing at home first.
“I am hoping we can confirm our qualification in these two matches so that we can relax more in our matches in May.
“I don’t think we can play as we did today in our next game in Indonesia but we should prepare well and secure our place in the next round.”
