Galloway debut impresses Everton youngster Stones

Everton defender John Stones has hailed debutant Brendan Galloway's performance in the 2-1 win over West Ham United.

The 19-year old left-back joined Everton from MK Dons last summer and has been a stand-out performer for the club's U21s side this season.

His performance in the victory at Upton Park on Saturday impressed many including fellow young defender Stones who feels Galloway has an extremely bright future.

Stones said: "I told him to go out there and play his game and not to let anyone distract him and be confident, you deserve to play."

When asked the type ofemotions Galloway would have been going through ahead of the game I,n east London Stones replied: "Definitely nerves.

"But we just told him to go out and play his game, he has the ability to do that and he was very focused before the game.

"In that situation you want to try to be as calm as you can and not let the occasion get to you but it is very difficult."

Stones added: "But once you get that first touch of the ball all those nerves and that anxiety is blown away.

"Brendan definitely showed what he is about and, for me, he looked like an experienced player out there and he more than played his part in the win."
