Former AC Milan GM Adriano Galliani says they were close to hiring Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri.

Sarri was considered before Milan turned to Vincenzo Montella.

“Sarri is an absolutely wonderful Coach and, I can confirm, a while ago he really was very close to joining Milan," Galliani told Mediaset Premium.

Sarri has just guided Napoli into the Champions League group phase.
