AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani rates Christian Abbiati's save against Arsenal captain Robin van Persie among the greatest in the club's history.

Galliani, who admitted to hiding in the dressing rooms for the final 20 minutes of the game due to nerves, praised Abbiati’s save and has suggested that it is one of his best.

“I now spend more of my time in the dressing room than in the stands,” Galliani joked to Milan Channel on Wednesday.

“There [on Tuesday] I recalled the movie of my 26 years at Milan. What crossed my mind was not the comeback suffered in Istanbul, nor that of Deportivo La Coruna, but three saves from Abbiati.

“The one to deny [Perugia’s Cristian] Bucchi that was decisive for the Scudetto in 1999, the one off the calf against [Mohamed Kallon of] Inter in the Champions League semi-final in 2003 and then this one against Van Persie.

“These three saves will remain in the history of our club.”
