Galatasaray's Neill commits to Australia's Asian Cup campaign

Galatasaray defender Lucas Neill has already committed to Australia's Asian Cup campaign early next year.

The Socceroos skipper is the first regular senior player to commit himself to the tournament to be held in Qatar in January, saying he feels good and will continue his international career past next month's World Cup.

"Not me. I feel good, my body feels good and I want to be there (in Qatar in January)," he said.

"In Turkey, we have a Christmas break and then the teams play cup matches only in January. So it's perfect timing for me and I want to be part of the Asian Cup.

"We have to put things right after last time, show we've learnt some lessons, and I want to be part of it and be the captain of that."

As for his involvement in the World Cup in Brazil 2014, Neill was less committal.

"I'll be 36 in four years, so I guess that might be pushing it," he added. "But I'd love to be involved in some capacity, whether it's playing, coaching or whatever.

"I'd love to get to 75 caps - the century may be out of the question, but I want to keep playing for Australia, for sure."
