Gael Bigirimana found himself on his own after missing Newcastle United U21's train ride to London.

The Sunday Express says the midfielder was missing when the development squad assembled at Newcastle's Central railway station for Monday night's game in the capital against West Ham.

The train containing the Newcastle squad left without him and when he eventually phoned in to make his excuses he was told in no uncertain terms to catch the next train to London King's Cross.

Bigirimana eventually caught up with his team-mates.

But he was left on the bench only coming on for the last half hour in a 2-2 draw between the sides.
