Gabriel Paulista is in France to accelerate paperwork over his move to Arsenal.
The Brazilian centre back arrived in England on Monday, but the north Londoners then sent him to Paris.
Paulista - who cost £11.2m from Villarreal - was granted a work permit by the Home Office.
However, the process can be quickened by applying through France and the player flew out yesterday to get the deal over the line.
Arsenal are expected to hand Paulista the vacant No5 shirt.
