Fulham's USA international Johnson drops down a division

Fulham have agreed to USA international striker Eddie Johnson joining Preston until the end of the season. The 26-year-old has yet to score a goal for the Cottagers since his 2008 arrivals from Kansas City Wizards and had made 11 appearances in the Premier League this term.

He admits he jumped at the opportunity to link up with the Championship's bottom club and is determined to repay manager Phil Brown's faith in him.

"I'm delighted to be joining Preston North End," Johnson told the club's official website.

"There is a lot of history behind the club and I think they are in a false position right now in the league.

"I am looking forward to being a part of their tremendous comeback to get themselves up the table where they should be.

"When I heard that Preston were interested in me I contacted my agent to make sure it was something that could happen and now I am looking forward to it.

"It was great to hear from the manager and the chairman and of how pleased they are to have me here as a player."
