Schwarzer has met with only minimal opposition to his place as first-choice goalkeeper since establishing himself in that role for both club and country.
The 35-year-old is keen to help his country book their place in South Africa.
"I have got ambitions still to play for Australia as well and hopefully qualify for the World Cup in 2010," Schwarzer said on foxsports.com.au.
"With the way the FIFA windows are these days, there is no reason why you should miss any games for your country if the opportunity is there to play."
