Fulham's Murphy tells Arsenal players: You're not that good
Fulham skipper Danny Murphy says Arsenal's players man-for-man do not stack up against their top four rivals.
He said: "The full-backs at Arsenal are great players but there's not many who would get into their best teams of the past - you have to say it.
"Look at Liverpool, would Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard get in great teams of the past? Yes.
"Take Chelsea and John Terry, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba? Yes.
"Manchester United. Would Rio Ferdinand, Wayne Rooney and Paul Scholes get in their great teams? Yes.
"You can name three or four immediately. But you can't do that with Arsenal.
"The Champions League semi-final against United last season showed the difference.
"There were spells where Arsenal played well and looked a good side but at the end of the day, all the results went in Man Utd's favour.
"The main reason was they have calm, experienced players in the team who know how to ride out a bad 20 minutes and even when playing badly, not to concede.
"I was surprised when they let Gilberto go as I always found him difficult to play. He could have stayed a bit longer and helped the younger lads."

Well, I dont think Murphy has anything to do with whether or not our team
is short of quality of Arsenal of yesteryears. As a talking point however, its
debatable. I dont however suspect he says this to put us down coz we are
facing them. This is in stark contrast to his Gaffer who was in papers
praising Hangeland who spurned our club's attempts to sign him saying
"its amazing that he refused Arsenal" knowing he would get better pay
and CL football.
murphy do not try to right teams like arsenal off because football nowadays is not what you saying.
