Fulham wing-back Riise happy silencing Mummy's boy taunts

Fulham wing-back John Arne Riise admits he could've joined the Cottagers ten years ago.

He was about to sign for the Cottagers when Liverpool intervened at the 11th hour and snapped him up for a seven-year adventure, which included Champions League glory in the Miracle of Istanbul, an FA Cup Final classic and his infamous setto with Craig Bellamy.

Riise told the People: "In 2001, I had the Fulham contract in front of me and was going to sign it, then the phone rang and it was Liverpool.

"I don't think anyone can blame me for choosing Liverpool.

"But hopefully I can now pay back those who always sang the 'mummy's boy' song at me. It was to funny.

"She was never my agent but, when you're that young - and I was only 20 - your mum always has something to say about it! I got a lot of stick at Fulham especially but when you get stick they are recognising they'd like you to come to their club."
