Fulham boss Roy Hodgson intends to sign Liverpool defender Sami Hyypia - if they can beat the drop.

The Mirror says Hyypia has been on Fulham's wanted list for 18 months and the giant centre-half will move to Craven Cottage as long as they stay up.

Hyypia, 34, is likely to be granted a free transfer by Liverpool as Daniel Agger will be fit by then and Martin Skrtel is expected to be promoted ahead of him in the queue to partner Jamie Carragher.

Hodgson tried to get Hyypia in January but was told he will have to wait because of Agger's injury problems.
