The agent of Pavel Pogrebnyak has revealed that his client chose to sign with Reading because they met his wage demands.
The 28-year old Russian striker, who was being targeted by Fulham, is set to join the Royals next week when he obtains a work permit and his representative Dr Oliver Wendt suggests the reason for turning down the Cottagers is because they could not match what the Premier League new boys were willing to pay.
"We did go back to Fulham, but they were not prepared to improve their offer.
"He was happy at Fulham and had a really great time there. Maybe he could have signed a new deal, but we have to consider the amount being offered at Reading.""There are maybe a number of reasons why we have decided to move to Reading, but in the end, the difference in wages was too great and we could not ignore it," he told the Fulham & Hammersmith Chronicle.
