Fulham striker Zamora: I must do better to earn England recall

Fulham striker Bobby Zamora is desperate to play his way back into the England squad.

Zamora set up his side's first goal in the 2-0 win at Wigan on Saturday but was not happy with his performance and knows he needs to do more if he is to impress Fabio Capello and force his way into the England squad.

The 30-year-old said: "I certainly need to play a bit better than that today to be anywhere near the squad. I did have an assist for the first goal, but I want to play better than that and I wasn't happy with my performance.

"I think goal scoring is what Fabio Capello is looking for in his strikers.

"You can work as hard as you like and the first season I came here, I did the role Moussa (Dembele) did today, which is sitting, screening and running around like a nutter.

"You don't get any credit for that sort of work unless you get a goal. That's what any striker is judged on and I know that's what I'll be judged on."
