Fulham striker Zamora determined to grab England chance

Fulham striker Bobby Zamora is determined to grab his England chance this week.

After finally breaking through into the senior international set-up, the former Brighton, Tottenham and West Ham forward intends to make the most of his opportunity.

"I have been training well, and certainly do not feel out of place", Zamora said.

"At the moment, it is one step at a time - hopefully I can get this cap under my belt and look to push on, to do well.

"If I get my chance, I am going to grab it."

"It has been a crazy week, but very enjoyable, so I am going to try to enjoy it all," said Zamora.

"The twins were born last Monday, they came out on Friday, then I had a match on Saturday, was back home for one day and then I was away with England, so I have not seen them as much as I wanted to, but I am sure I will find some time when I get back home.

"The twins, Gisele and Siena, are a massive part of my life now, and with getting the call-up to play for your country is a massive honour.

"I am lost for words. I am extremely proud to be called up to play for my country."

Zamora recalled: "Last year was a bit disappointing that I could not go to the World Cup because of my injury, but I guess that is life.

"Going and not doing either myself or the country justice says it all - you cannot go if you are not 100%, that is not fair on anybody, so in that sense the decision was quite easy.

"It had to be sorted over the summer, it has been operated on and feels 100% now, so I am looking forward to doing well for England."
