Fulham have slapped a £10 million price-tag on Clint Dempsey.
The Daily Express says the Anfield club was embarrassed yesterday when a report on their American owners' website claimed the USA international had become Brendan Rodgers' latest signing.
The erroneous article, posted on Fenway Sports Group's website, was later removed.
No bid has been lodged as yet and the Craven Cottage club insist the forward will not be sold for a fee in the region of £5million, with Fulham seeking nearer £10m.
