Fulham signing Okaka welling up over Roma exit

Fulham loan signing Stefano Okaka says he leaves Roma in tears.

The 20-year-old striker leaves for London today, barely 24 hours after scoring Roma's winner in a 2-1 victory over Siena.

"My team-mates' farewells moved me. I have been here for five years. I was the group's mascot," Okaka said.

"I grew up thanks to the advice of my team-mates. But going to England, to the Premier League, is fundamental for my jump in quality.

"I hope to be able to return stronger than before. The loan expires in June, but there is an option for another year. We'll see."

Roma's vice-captain Daniele De Rossi is also sad to see Okaka leave the club.

"He would also have been able to do well here. I am sorry that he is leaving, but perhaps it's right that he goes away," he concluded.
