Fulham had a trump card inside the camp to win the race for Olympiakos striker Kostas Mitroglou.
A personal recommendation from countryman Giorgos Karagounis sealed his switch to England.
Mitroglou said: "I was really flattered that Fulham wanted me so badly. I'm happy to work with Rene Meulensteen. He explained to me how he works and I'm looking forward to working with him.
"I also spoke to Giorgos before I came here and he only told me only the best things about Fulham."
