Fulham score three in Lithuania

Fulham enjoyed a comfortable 3-0 victory over FC Vetra in Vilnius, in the third Europa League qualifying first-leg encounter. Bobby Zamora, who turned down a move to Hull in the summer, scored the opener just before half time.

And Zamora it was who earned the penalty on 56 minutes which Danny Murphy converted.

In hot conditions, once the Cottagers had taken a two goal lead, they proceeded to totally control the game at a training ground pace.

Near the end Zamora played in Seol Ki-Hyeon to smash home a third and set up what should be a comfortable second leg at Craven Cottage next Thursday.

"It was important for us to start with a win," Zamora told the club's official web site. "We had a few games in pre-season and looked good, so it was good for us to carry that into this game and get an important result.

"And it was nice to get back on the road and get these games going too. It's really important for us, we're all loving playing in Europe as it's another achievement for us, so we're going to relish every minute of it."

Zamora was also impressed with the travelling Fulham faithful.

"It was a small stadium, but the atmosphere was brilliant. Their fans were good, but our fans were magnificent. To come all the way out here and show themselves in the numbers that they did was sensational, and we're pleased to be able to send them home happy.

"Now we're just looking forward to the second leg next week. We want to end the tie, but it'll be another tough workout for us, and hopefully we'll come out of it with another win."
