Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer remains Arsenal's number one goalkeeping target despite rumours the Gunners were after other players. A report in yesterday's UK papers suggested that the London club were set to bid for Italian international and Cagliari number one Federico Marchetti and there has also been interest in Ajax and Holland stopper Maarten Stekelenburg.

But more recent reports insist that the Australian veteran is still very much on Arsenal's radar as they go about seeking a replacement for Manuel Almunia who is set to join Spanish club Osasuna.

It is also believed that Arsenal are prepared to part with £3million ($AUD5.2m) for Schwarzer after having an earlier bid of £2million rejected.
