Fulham midfielder Zoltan Gera was on target for Hungary in their World Cup qualifying win against Malta.
Played at the Ferenc Puskas Stadium, Hungary accounted for Malta 3-0 to remain on course for South Africa 2010 qualification.
Gera came on in the 46th minute when scores were 1-0 but it took him until the 80th minute to get on the scoresheet.
Hull City's Peter Halmosi supplied a cross for the winger and he headed in for a crucial goal to ensure the home side grabbed all three points.
At the other end of the pitch, Sunderland keeper Marton Fulop was relatively quiet but was on hand to make an important save when Malta pressed for an equaliser early in the second half.
The other scorers for Hungary were Tamas Hajnal and Roland Juhasz.
