Fulham's Dempsey: USA clean sheet against Colombia a positive

USA star Clint Dempsey said it was a pleasing result to keep a clean sheet against Colombia on Tuesday night. The national team followed up Saturday's 2-2 draw with Poland by playing out a goalless draw at PPL Park against the South Americans and Dempsey admitted that was a pleasing outcome.

"It's always good to be back in the States," Dempsey said. "All in all, we tried to play good football. The positive was the first game we were able to score goals. Unfortunately we conceded two, but this game we kept a clean sheet and that's a step forward.

"In the second half we were a little bit more confident on the ball and were able to get forward. We didn't try to play too safe, and took some risks. They sat back and were trying to hit us on the counter. We were still able to get in the pockets and find a few passes. We created a few chances, not many, but at the end of the day we're happy with the shutout."
