Fulham attacker Clint Dempsey is expected to return before the end of the English Premier League season.

The USA international is currently sidelined with knee ligament damage that was initially supposed to keep him out for several months but he has made good steps towards recovery and Cottagers officials have earmarked a return during this term.

Fulham boss Roy Hodgson said on Wednesday that Dempsey was going well and things were looking positive.

"…his progress is good and he is working very hard to recover. The medical staff are very happy with him," he said.

US fans will hoping the 26-year old can get back to full fitness before the World Cup as his influence in the national team shirt has been immense in the past 12 months.
