Fulham's Davies has big hopes in Europa League

Fulham winger Simon Davies is holding onto big hopes that the club can all the way in the Europa League.

The Cottagers completed their biggest effort in the competition when they amazingly pushed past Italian club Juventus in the last round and tonight face reigning German Bundesliga champions VfL Wolfsburg at Craven Cottage.

Davies is of firm belief that after knocking two quality sides out of the competition (Juventus and reigning UEFA champs Shakhtar Donetsk), the club can beat anybody and even win the Europa League title.

"We feel we can take on anyone now," he said. "To get past the two clubs we have in the past two rounds has given us extra believe we can really achieve something now. There is definitely more of a buzz on European nights and now we believe we can go all the way and win it.

"The Shakhtar games were massive games, they were such a quality team, and we didn't think we'd play anyone with that quality again. We thought we had a good chance against Juventus, even after the 3-1 defeat in the first leg and going a goal down in the second match, but we ended up with a great result in the end.

"Now, with every game, there's more excitement in the squad and everyone's enjoying it more and more.

"To reach the quarters has given us greater belief that we can achieve something. We'll treat them with the respect they deserve, but we'll try to get a lead to take to Germany next week."
