Fulham and QPR are battling to pull the sensational signing of Inter Milan star Luis Figo.
Filthy-rich Rangers want to make Figo, 35, their marquee signing after the takeover by F1 moguls Flavio Briatore and Bernie Ecclestone and they could tempt the former Real Madrid Galactico with £75,000-a-week wages.
But although Hodgson cannot match that pay packet, he hopes Figo will be tempted by the chance to play Premier League football, albeit in Fulham's relegation battle.
Figo's representatives are aware of Fulham and QPR's interest and the player is keen on one final pay-day.
