Fulham plan new bid for want-away Man City striker Santa Cruz

Fulham are ready to try again for Manchester City striker Roque Santa Cruz.

The Daily Mail says Fulham are to make a renewed bid to sign Manchester City striker Santa Cruz after he declared his intent to leave in January.

The 29-year-old has been dogged by injury and rarely featured since his £17.5million move from Blackburn in 2009. His former manager Mark Hughes tried to sign him on loan for Fulham in the summer and Lazio also showed strong interest but a deal failed to materialise.

The Paraguay international has only played once for Roberto Mancini this season and now realises he must quit Eastlands.

He said: "Competition for places is great and I'm working every day to try and convince the coach, but I'm still not getting picked. I'm not getting the playing time to convince anybody and my priority is to leave in the January transfer market."
