Fulham boss Martin Jol is eyeing West Ham United striker Carlton Cole.
The People says Jol has been an admirer of Cole since he was at Tottenham and tried to sign the striker from Chelsea.
And England chief Roy Hodgson also tried to sign Cole when he was in charge at Craven Cottage.
Fulham's forward line was decimated by the loss of Bobby Zamora and Andy Johnson to QPR, while Clint Dempsey, who can operate as a second striker, is likely to join Liverpool.
Jol began rebuilding by signing Croatian striker Mladen Petric from Hamburg and former Wigan forward Hugo Rodallega on a free.
