Fulham have tabled an offer to former Manchester United coach Rene Meulensteen.
The Daily Mail says the Dutchman has been offered a route back to the Premier League by the Craven Cottage club, which would see him form part of Martin Jol's staff.
Meulensteen met Fulham chiefs for dinner towards the back end of September and the highly-respected coach impressed during talks.
Discussions over a move for Sir Alex Ferguson's right-hand man have progressed steadily over recent days, culminating in Fulham's offer.
Meulensteen will mull over the offer during the next 48 hours before deciding whether to join the West London club, but Fulham are said to be hopeful of a positive conclusion.
