David Wheater says he won't quit Middlesbrough before the end of his contract.
The centre-half has been linked with Fulham and Liverpool over the last year.
"If we went up this season I would probably sign a 10-year contract just to be at Middlesbrough," Wheater told the Evening Gazette.
"Some foreign players might not get to grips with this area, but all of the local lads love it and I'm one of them. But as a player you want to be playing in the Premier League. I just want Middlesbrough to get back in there before I think about anything.
"My contract is up after next season so I've got another year left and I will be here unless the manager or chairman wants to sell me."
