Fulham hero Barry Hayles has urged new club owner Shahid Khan to stick with Martin Jol.

Jol is under huge pressure after it emerged Khan had held talks with former Manchester United coach Rene Meulensteen.

"They've had a horrendous start to the season, but it's still early days," Hayles told the Mirror.

"The new players haven't bedded in yet and need time to gel.

"Hopefully the new owner realises that and doesn't give him the chop.

"It hasn't been great, but I think it's important there isn't a knee-jerk reaction.

"They need some continuity. They let Martin bring in players in the summer, so he deserves time to try and turn things around."
