Clint Dempsey is set to write himself into the record books this weekend.
The Seattle Sounders captain has scored or assisted in each of his eight MLS appearances so far this season which has him on a run of 10 regular season matches where he has contributed to his side's scoresheet.
The current MLS record sits at 11 consecutive games with either a goal or an assist currently held by a trio of players in Roy Lassiter (DC United in 1998), Ronald Cerritos (San Jose Clash in 1997) and Mauricio Cienfuegos (LA Galaxy in 1997/98).
If Dempsey can hit the back of the net or provide a teammate with a goal in the weekend's clash with Sporting Kansas City, he will join the aforementioned trio as his streak dates back to the final two regular season matches of the 2014 campaign.
This term, former Fulham and Tottenham star Dempsey has scored seven goals and provided five assists for the Sounders who sit third on the Western Conference table.
