Fulham eye move for former Liverpool defender Riise

Skysports.com claims Fulham are lining up a move to bring former Liverpool defender John Arne Riise to Craven Cottage. Fulham boss Martin Jol is in the market for a new left-back with Mexican defender Carlos Salcido expected to leave Craven Cottage as he is homesick.

The Cottagers were thought to be considering a move to bring out of favour Liverpool defender Paul Konchesky back to Craven Cottage, but it appears their interest in the full-back has cooled.

Norway international Riise is entering the final year of his contract and he is expected to leave the Italian side this summer rather than the capital-based club seeing him move on a free transfer next summer.

Riise is believed to be keen on a return to England after enjoying seven successful years with Liverpool prior to his switch to Roma in 2008.

Should Riise make the move to Fulham he will join up with brother Bjorn Helge in West London.
