Fulham have made an official complaint to the Premier League in regard to Liverpool's pursuit of Clint Dempsey.
Goal.com reports that the Cottagers are furious with Reds boss Brendan Rodgers for publicly stating that the Merseyside club are hoping to lure the USA international to Anfield.
Rodgers previously stated: "Clint is a player we've enquired about, it is as simple as that.
"Ian Ayre, our managing director, has spoken with the club to see what the position is. That is where we're at. He's a very talented player but we don't like to talk about other clubs' players."
Fulham are also of the belief that Liverpool broke Premier League rules when a story on a website of Reds owners, Fenway Sports Group, suggested that Dempsey had signed with them on July 18.
"The Premier League has received a complaint from Fulham FC regarding certain comments made by Liverpool FC officials and is currently looking into the matter," read a Premier League statement.
