Fulham compete with Tottenham for Real Madrid striker Van Nistelrooy

Fulham will compete with Tottenham for Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The People says the former Manchester United star has been told he can go in a cut-price deal as Real finalise a deal to sign AC Milan forward Kaka.

Van Nistelrooy has been missing with a knee injury since November but is expected to be ready for the new season.

Fulham are also interested in signing the Holland striker, who has spent three years in Spain after five successful seasons at Old Trafford.

But Spurs could offer a tempting escape for Van Nistelrooy, 32, as they attempt to offload Darren Bent and Roman Pavlyuchenko.
