Fulham boss Mark Hughes is chasing Aston Villa outcast Stephen Ireland.
The Mirror says Villa misfit Ireland, who played under Hughes at Manchester City, will be allowed to go in January after falling out of favour under Gerard Houllier.
Fulham boss Hughes has been alerted to Ireland's availability and believes he can help his fight against relegation.
Hughes is desperate to strengthen his squad and is hoping Villa will let Ireland go within Fulham's price range.
