Lawrie Sanchez has come up with an innovative way of improving the technical ability of English football - impose a three-year ban on relegation and promotion.
Calls for an inquest into the lack of skill in English players have resurfaced after the national team lost to a superior-looking Croatia side on Wednesday.
Sanchez feels that the desperation of trying to avoid dropping out of their team's respective league forces managers to implement a pragmatic approach to the game.
He told Setanta Sports,"To get teams to play like Arsenal you would have to stop promotion and relegation to get English players up there technically."
"If you were to say: 'You've got three years; you can't change your manager, there's no promotion or relegation, so away you go.
"Then we would start to get close to what we want with our group of players.
"Would I like my players to play like Arsenal? Of course I would, but at the moment all I'm doing is worrying about keeping us up."
