Fulham boss Lawrie Sanchez has stepped up his search for a striker by reportedly launching a £2million bid for Espanyol hitman Walter Pandiani.

Sanchez is interested in the ex Birmingham player, despite Pandiani failing to shine in his previous Premiership spell.

The Uruguayan forward, known as "The Rifle", has enjoyed improved form since a move to La Liga in January last year, and was part of the Espanyol team that reached the UEFA Cup final in May.
