Fulham boss Sanchez happy to work Championship market

Fulham boss Lawrie Sanchez says he's happy to continue shopping in the Championship market.

Sanchez said: "It is as much a risk as signing players from abroad, who can't speak the language.

"We did have a player from the top level in Italy last year (Vincenzo Montella) but he just looked at me and said: 'Why is English football like this?'

"People want fast and furious football or it wouldn't sell. It's very much in these players' hands to prove they are Premiership quality."

The manager added: "I said the policy this summer would be that we'd sign players who know what English football is about. It's a shock to the system for a lot of players who come over.

"You don't want someone with a language problem, who needs to settle into a foreign environment and then has to play at the pace which football is played in the Premiership and they need until Christmas to get settled in. We need players who have played in English football and know what is expected."
