Fulham boss Rene Meulensteen was pleased with Dan Burn's debut in defeat at Arsenal.
Meulensteen agreed Emirates Stadium was not the easiest of venues to make your first start in the Premier League, but said he had every faith the 21-year-old would vindicate the decision.
"He earned the right to start today," Meulensteen said. "He had two fantastic performances in the cup against Norwich and I think he did ever so well - fantastic.
"It was a great experience for him and hopefully he can kick on from this.
"We've taken a lot of heart from this performance and a lot of positives. We were well organised and defended well, but we always know that Arsenal do have the quality that if you switch off just for one moment, and don't track runners, it can cost you.
"I was disappointed with the second goal. At 1-0, I thought we could still nick a goal, but it wasn't to be."
