Fulham boss Jol: We had to move Zamora on

Fulham manager Martin Jol has revealed that the club had to get rid of Bobby Zamora in January.

The striker was sold to QPR after he suggested to the press that he didn't get along with the Dutch tactician with reports later emerging that the 31-year old said that none of the Cottagers players saw eye-to-eye with Jol.

But the Fulham boss today indicated that Zamora had burnt his bridges not long after Jol's arrival at Craven Cottage and basically had to move the player on.

"I think nothing is what it seems. Everyone knows me. The players know me so one player will say this, another player will say that," he said.

"If players do well and work hard, I try to get a good relationship with them. If not, I don't. With Bobby it started after a couple of weeks. Everybody knew and now he has moved on.

"There was a few leaks in the paper and I asked him and he said 'no, it wasn't me'. I knew it was him and his agent 100 percent.

"He said 'no, it wasn't me, I hate the press'. He hated defence and later said he hated crosses as well and that was the moment I thought 'maybe it is better to sell' and that is what we did."
