Fulham boss Jol: Man City's Kompany true prince

Fulham boss Martin Jol admits he's a huge fan of Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany.

Jol, who worked with Kompany briefly when he was at Hamburg in 2008, has labelled the 26-year-old as the best defender in the Premier League.

Plus he also lifted the lid on the player’s unique nickname.

Jol said: “Kompany will play against us because they appealed and were successful. He does that type of tackle all the time.

“I love Vincent — I had him in Germany. He is the best defender in England. He is called the Prince in Belgium because of his style.

“He was 16 when he played in the first team for Anderlecht. He was the most talented defender over the last two decades. He must be one of the best defenders who has ever played for his country.

“Belgium are a great team with all these youngsters. They are one of the better teams in Europe now.

“Vincent has got all the qualities. He is big, strong and athletic plus he can score goals out of set-plays.

“If there is one player who deserves an award for best defender last year, then it was him.”
