Fulham manager Roy Hodgson admits he is wary of trying to progress to far too quickly.
The Cottagers boss knows just how tough a competition the English Premier League is and how much hard work is required to achieving success with so many other quality clubs vying for the same thing.
But in knowing what is required, Hodgson is also remaining cautious that trying to reach for something that is a bit far away can be detrimental to a club such as Fulham.
"It's worth bearing in mind. It stops you striving too hard for something you're not going to get. It keeps your feet more on the ground. Every season, out of 20 managers very few are going to come away with plaudits," he told The Observer.
"I'm worried about ceilings, and I'm worried about the constant desire for progression.
"I know you've got to progress but you can start reaching too high, and in doing that you can destroy a little bit of the tradition of the club, the structure."
