Fulham boss Hodgson prepared to back his kids

Fulham boss Roy Hodgson says he's prepared to play the kids if his squad continues to struggle to cope with their Premiership and FA Cup commitments.

"The other day we had Rob Milsom and Wayne Brown making their debuts against Manchester United. In the same game Chris Smalling appeared on the bench for the first time," he said.

"Am I going to find myself in a position when I am forced to rely on Brown, Smalling and Milsom - unknown players by most people's standards? Yes, that is probably what we are going to be doing.

"But they are bona fide members of the first-team squad and when their time comes they would do well to take it.

"I watched Tottenham in midweek and they had a lad, (Dean) Parrett, who I didn't know well but there he was playing against Shakhtar Donetsk in the latter stages of the UEFA Cup.

"If Tottenham can put in a 17-year-old lad and say 'we trust you', I'm sure we can do the same."
