Fulham boss Hodgson backs Konchesky for Capello call

Fulham boss Roy Hodgson believes England manager Fabio Capello was checking on Paul Konchesky during Sunday's victory over West Brom.

"Paul is having a good season," he said. "He's been giving one solid performance after another. I know England is quite well off with left-backs but I would like to think Paul would at least have got his name in [the England manager Fabio Capello's] notebook."

Asked about the influential Danny Murphy, Hodgson said: "He played very well. But let's be honest, Danny Murphy is 31 years of age and has already played for England.

"He does a fantastic job for us but central midfield is where Capello has the greatest variety of choice so I think I'd be making a bit of a fool of myself if I was suggesting Danny Murphy."
