Fulham ace Ruiz nets against former club in friendly

Bryan Ruiz was on target as Fulham beat LD Alajuelense 3-1 in a pre-season friendly in Costa Rica.

The 27-year old attacker was the star of the show upon his return to Alajuelense whom he left in 2006 to embark on a European journey which has so far taken him to Gent in Belgium, FC Twente in Holland and Fulham in Southwest London.

Ruiz set up the opening goal for Steve Sidwell in the 62nd, who headed home his corner, before Allen Guevara drew Alajuelense level with just under 20 minutes remaining.

Fulham then edged ahead when Dimitar Berbatov converted form the penalty spot after Alex Kacaniklic had been brought down prior to Ruiz fittingly wrapping up the match with an 87th minute goal on the counter.
